Warning: I have nothing of any interest to communicate and nothing funny to report, yet I felt that a blog post was overdue.

On Friday I had to go to our office in Gainesville, supposedly for a meeting with our new CPA, which did take place although far later than they’d told me it would. When I arrived at noon, one of the ladies in that office (Kathy) had arranged a wedding luncheon for me! She had deli trays of meat, cheeses, fresh fruit, mini-eclairs and petit-fours, she’d made a macaroni salad and arranged matching plates, napkins, forks, etc. All the employees gathered to help celebrate my wedding, including the man who’s The Boss’s partner in 2 of the companies. That fellow has been very ill and having lots of health problems lately, so it really meant a lot to get to see him. I was given a couple of cards and gifts, but what touched me most was all the work and effort Kathy put in to doing the little celebration for me. It was totally unexpected and such a nice surprise!

My bridal shower was Saturday. I was disappointed because only a handful of people were there. The invitations went out so late that a lot of my friends couldn’t attend on such short notice, including my sister-in-law-to-be who got her invitation the day before the event. Sigh. Oh well.

Sunday was rainy and dreary, so I snuggled under the “cuddle blanket” Nancy crocheted as my shower gift (gorgeous blue, soft and warm) while I worked a little on my wedding album (shower gift from my mom and Aunt Betty). I’m not really “into” scrapbooking - that’s not where my creativity lies and I’m also a perfectionist, so I never finish projects like that and I’m never happy with what I’ve accomplished. But I did want to preserve some of the wedding memorabilia, so I gave it a try. I put one of the engraved invitations, response cards and envelopes on the first page, then tried to re-create the wax seals we used, which was silver sealing wax and a ‘wedding bells’ design. Here’s where the perfectionism comes in: once it was done, I didn’t like it that the seal wasn’t centered in its little square, so I razor-bladed it off and did a new one. The next one didn’t have enough wax on one edge and looked stupid. Three rejected seals later, Alan suggested that I do a bunch of them on heavy paper and when I finally managed “the perfect seal”, I could mount the square of paper in the album. That worked better and about half an hour later, I was ready to move on to the invitation to, and pictures from, the brunch my aunt and cousin threw for me.

I spent the evening on the PS2 finishing King’s Field: The Ancient City! I beat the game, I won, I AM the superior gamer! I can’t decide what to start next - I have a number of new games from which to choose. So, that’s about it, you’re now up-to-date on my life. Adventures in wedding scrapbooking, PS2 triumphs - gods, how do my readers stand the suspense?

  • I bow down before you (in speech only, I'm not allowed to bow yet), Ms. Superior Gamer.

You may not have thought you had anything funny to report, but for me, just picturing you doing the wax seals over and over and over again was kind of amusing.
