In my last post, I neglected to mention that after the brunch, Alan and I went over to my parents' house so my mom could work on my dress. It's a very old-fashioned style - old-fashioned like Tudor, not like 1920s - and the sleeves have these points at the shoulder, with boning to hold them up and out. Mom says it's because back in the day, sleeves were actually separate from the dress and you pulled them on and up. Everyone's been telling me they're supposed to look that way, but *frowny face* I. didn't. like. it. So Mom tacked them down and around to this inside strap and now they look normal. All the beading makes them really stiff on top, but I can deal with that now that they don't look like epaulettes. She also did the sewing with me in the dress - go, Mom!
After the tailoring session, she grilled jerk chicken which we had with salad, bread and corn-on-the-cob. 'Twas yummy.
The "head count" for our wedding is due to the caterer today. So far, we have EIGHTY-FOUR 'yeses'. I had no idea people liked us that much. Seriously.
We have only 9 responses not yet received. People are coming from Florida, South Carolina, Alabama, Virginia, NYC - but K'vitsh wins the long-distance competition since she's coming from Edmonton, Alberta. I'm seriously thinking of giving a few prizes at the reception, like maybe a nice bottle of wine, for 1st RSVP received, longest distance traveled, stuff like that. I don't know that I'll have time to deal with that in among the other preparation details, but I'm thinking about it. Any suggestions for other categories?

How bout a round of bridal bouquet dodge ball at the reception?

Hmmm. I rather suspect "anonymous" and K'vitsh of suggesting categories favorable to themselves. Nancy's suggestion, however - that one, I like!

How about-"Best impression of a Dallas Cowboy wide receiver during the bouquet toss"?
I mean...you DID invite T.O., right? Cuz he stay in yo' hood, n' all.

Good one, Bo! Yeah, T.O. do stay in my hood, 'n I did invite him. But he didn't RSVP, so I dunno if he's gonna be there or not. So, it's either 0 guests or 14 'cause I know he ain't comin' without his posse.

I have a confession to make. I think I am one of the nine tardy folks not to send in an rsvp. I was hoping to attend, but I don't think I'll be able to. If you don't mind, I really don't want to send in the card because... DID YOU SEE THAT CUTE STAMP? Of course you did, because you MADE them. But, I have the envelope up on my board and I don't want to part with it.

Kristal, I thought about keeping it too, because of the stamp.

Kristy, it's okay, I totally understand. Sure, you can keep the stamp.
Flippy, to make up for having to part with yours, I used a Helly&Alan stamp on your get-well card.

Excellent! Wait, is it still on your counter?
