Happy Hogswatch, everyone! I hope you celebrate Hogswatch, and if you don't, you should start. Of course it's also the Fast of St. Ossory, if you're Omnian, but since they celebrate it by fasting, holding a prayer meeting and exchanging religious pamphlets, I can't say I'd exactly recommend it. Hogswatch is much better: feasting, drinking and presents from the Hogfather!
Hogswatch day is the 1st of Ick, which we don't have in the Gregorian calendar, but it coincides with the Disc's winter solstice, which for us is today, so we have declared it Hogswatch Day at The Hellhole. After all, it is The Century of The Anchovy. Hogswatch Night isn't technically until the 32nd of December, but since we don't have one of those either, we're leaving a glass of sherry and a pork pie for The Hogfather out tonight, along with turnips for Gouger, Tusker, Rooter and Snouter, the four wild boars who pull the Hogfather's sleigh. We have high hopes of our offering pleasing him, and receiving gifts in our Hogswatch stockings carefully hung on the mantle. I want a real sword - it's educational.
HAPPY HOGSWATCH TO ALL!
(If this blog post made no sense to you, please, for the love of Blind Io and the rest of the gods of Dunmanifestin, get thee at once to the bookstore and ask the clerk for one of the most wonderful books in the multiverse, Hogfather by Sir Terry Pratchett. Here's a great quote from Death: "Human beings make life so interesting. Do you know, that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to invent boredom.")
