Guest Post from Alan - we're home, Helly is resting. Thanks to all for your care and concern, it means a lot to Helly and me.

I'm sure Helly will blog more about her Lady Parts Adventure later, once the pain killers wear off.

  • When the painkillers wear off? Oh, hush your mouth! ;) When she wakes up, with painkillers deliciously roaming her body, but she feels like posting nonetheless. Seriously, I'm glad for her that it's done and that she's at the napping part of the deal.

  • Just checking in to see how you were feeling. Our pets feel your procedural pain. Bing & Scampi have some awful tooth disease and had to have their teeth cleaned (and then we found out that they both have raging UTIs that they showed no signs of at home), Bunny had an echocardiogram, Cricket had a urinalysis, and Eli had bloodwork & exams. Total of the bill - unpayable. :) Number of cats that we took to the vet today = 3. Number still speaking to us = 0. I hope you're still speaking to us. ;)

  • Hi, everyone! - and thank you for your kind comments and good wishes. I'm feeling - meh. Not good enough to do anything other than lay around and whine, but not badly enough to feel justified in doing so. I'm going to go back to work tomorrow (Wednesday) but am under orders from my mom, Alan, and - oddly enough - The Boss, to only do as much as I feel like and then go home to rest. It's a weird state - I have license to sloth but I don't feel quite badly enough to do so without guilt. Anyway, we'll see - I return to the doctor in a fortnight. Flippy - what happened with Bunny's echocardiogram????

  • Geez... I don't check on your blog for a month and all Hell breaks loose! (Note: in respect for your condition, I purposefully passed up the opportunity for a play on words with your name there...). You're the second person in my family circle dealing with cancer this past month (my sis-in-law just had to have a mastectomy). Is there something in the air, or is it just residual bad karma left over from the now defunct Bush administration? It sounds like the docs have it pretty much under control, so I have faith you'll have a speedy recovery. I'll keep you in my prayers, tho. I know you're in good paws with your "kids" and Alan to help in your recovery, too.

    Hang in there!

  • Hi, Helly:

I hope you and your lady parts are resting comfortably and you are taking things easy. Also was very glad to hear your mammogram turned out clear.

  • Oh, Helly, milk it for at least a week and don't feel an ounce of guilt. It fucked with your head, not just your lady parts, so I'm sure the "meh" feeling is a combination of everything you're recovering from - the diagnosis, the worry, the procedure, the recovery, etc. Just treat yourself with kid gloves and don't feel like you have to be normal you for a while.

They shaved our lovely Bunny's chest (she grows hair back at a weed-like pace) and said they wouldn't have the results back until the next day. We were in today (which is to say, Wednesday), but no one gave us the results. Perhaps they weren't ready or the staff was just overwhelmed with stuff. We'll find out tomorrow, but she's now been seen by two different vets in the past week and neither of them heard any problems with their stethoscopes, so that's promising. However, it seems like all of our other cats have UTIs. Weirdness. And Tie actually had crystals in his urine. Geez, man. We got him his one shot of two week's worth of antibiotics and we'll take him back in a couple of weeks to see how he's doing.

You should probably take Friday off, so you can have a long weekend to recover...and shop for Sunday. Oh, and then you might need Monday off too, to recover from the weekend. :)

  • Helly--thanks for the report. Get over the guilt. Look at all those times you worked like crazy...it evens out over a lifetime.
