The Hellhole

There was a celebrity sighting in my building today - more specifically, about 3 feet away from me but I'm such a dork I had no idea. My friend and co-worker Sheila had come by my office to pick up some checks and I met her down in the building lobby to save her a trip up to my floor. So we're standing there in the atrium catching up on stuff when a trio of guys walks by us, heading toward the row of doors at the front of the building.

Sheila calls out to one of them, very cheerily, "Hey! How are you?!?"

He answers, "Pretty good, I guess."

She says, "Taking it easy after yesterday, huh?"

He replies, "Oh yeah - you know it!" and they leave.

I ask her innocently, "Was that one of Darrell [her younger brother]'s friends?"

Sheila gives me the squink eye and says, "Helly. That was Andruw Jones."

D'oh!

  • Andruw will not be playing for the Braves in 2008. We'll miss his Golden Glove in center field. He was one of the best to ever play CF, and I am so glad we had him in Atlanta from 1996 on. I guess Bo is right; there is no loyalty in sports (baseball) we just 'cheer for the laundry' .....

    sad...sad

  • I am totally with you. Shaq could walk right by me and I would think, "Geez, he's tall. He should play basketball."
