AT&T Idiocy
Our office complex is doing some renovation/expansion and, as a consequence, my office had to be relocated down the hall a bit; I'm still in the same building, on the same floor, but I used to be in the south tower and now I'm in the west tower. This move took place on Wednesday and as a part of that, AT&T arrived to activate jacks, get me phones and DSL and such.
At this office we have my direct line, The Boss's direct line and a fax line. The technician came and we thought everything was working but after The Boss and I returned from lunch, we discovered that his line wasn't active. He called in a repair request. Ever since, AT&T has called to ask questions about what exactly is/is not working, check our hours to see when they can come out to work on it, give updates on their ETA, etc. - which would be really great, if they weren't calling his direct line which isn't ringing anywhere in our offices, hence the repair request, and so so they wind up on voice mail which we don't know because his line isn't working, and since his line isn't working his voice mail light doesn't light up so we don't know AT&T is calling. Then they decide no one is here because they get voice mail so they don't show up, but we're here waiting on them, which they would know if they were calling the alternate numbers he provided instead of the non-functional line he called about. AAAAAAAGH!

That reminds me of the time I called (from a cell phone) to report my home phone out of service and the Bellsouth genius asked, 'are you calling me now on that phone line?'
......uh, that would be a NO.

The world is full of people who do stupid things. Most of them work with the public.

Don't even get me started! I am convinced you can only work at cable/telephone/internet companies if you are short on brain cells. ::Cough:: Time Warner.
