Just Call Me Madame Understatement...

E-mail last night at 10:17 from me to Alan, who is working late shift: Please check the weather before you leave, be careful on the roads, etc. etc. It is raining really hard here. A moment ago it was raining so hard that the pounding on the roof and the little metal thing that closes the chimney was drowning out Final Fantasy.

This morning's AJC: tornado hits Atlanta, downtown a "war zone", CNN building damaged, Georgia Dome damaged, all windows of the Omni Hotel facing Marietta Street are blown out, Fulton Cotton Mill lofts damaged, building at 170 Boulevard collapsed, 9 story building near Centennial Park collapsed, thousands without power, streets and exit ramps closed...

  • I'm assuming Alan got home safely?? I woke up to the news this morning, thought about you guys right away. Was there any damage to your building?

  • Oh no! I second Nancy's questions. I was watching the news. Is everyone okay?

  • Oh, sorry - I should have been more informative. Alan got home fine; there was only one stage of his drive that was rough/scary. Last I heard, a good many people had injuries but all minor. There's a lot of damage, though.

We had some limbs down but nothing major, no home damage. I don't know about my office building, Nancy; I haven't seen it on the news so I'm assuming nothing happened, but they have streets and exits blocked, and are urging people who don't have to be downtown to stay away so I can't be certain.

  • Cripes, it's awful when it affects your video games.

I'm late checking in on you, but I'm glad you were already home and that Alan is fine. What a nasty storm. That's no way to entice us to move your way.

  • I had no idea anything that bad was transpiring, I was so immersed in the final boss of my game. I had only a vague moment of, "Dang, sure is raining hard..."
