Today was a day of highs and lows.
Low: the Thrashers fired Bob Hartley. I totally disagree with this move. I realize that the Thrashers are off to a woeful start this year (no one else in the entire NHL is 0 - 6) but after all, the dude took the team to the playoffs last year, division champions for the first time ever. I realize that losing games = losing money but I feel like: give him some time to build his team. Also - and I write this knowing full well that I am not the in-depth analyst type that many fans are, so there is the possibility that this is not quite the rhetorical question I think it is: who else is available that's better??? Generally, I think too many of my favorite hockey teams are too quick to cut a coach loose without taking that into consideration, that maybe the coach isn't meeting all your expectations as quickly as you'd like but is there anyone better available? This happened with the Blues firing of Joel Quenneville (and hey! how's THAT working out for ya?!?), the Leafs firing Pat Quinn and now the Thrashers. I liked Bob Hartley, I think he is a good coach, and hell - he won a Cup for the Stinkin' 'Lanche. *sigh*
High: I came home to a mysterious package in the mail. The only thing that makes a present better is when it's totally unexpected. This was a GREAT present, too. Nancy sent me a wonderful t-shirt. It's black with a caution sign on it and the lettering reads, "Consider the hair a big WARNING label - use extreme caution!" Isn't that perfect?!? Redheads unite! I will post pictures soon, but probably not tonight. I'm tired - but I'm a tired girl with a fab new t-shirt. Thanks, Nancy!!!
