Nancy posted recently asking, "What are you eating?" in a request for recipe suggestions. I was all set to sent her a couple of my favorite summer dishes, one of which I made last night (a hearty pasta salad with chicken, tomatoes, a bit of crumbled bacon) when I realized that both contain mayonnaise. If you don't know already, Nancy hates mayonnaise and when I say "hates", I mean "despises with the heat of ten thousand fiery suns". So no recipes for Nancy today.
But this led me to thinking about something kinda funny, that I don't know if I've ever told Nancy that we do. Whenever we need to buy mayonnaise, like now because I used the last of it in my pasta salad, neither one of us put the word "mayonnaise" on the grocery list. What we write - and what it says right this minute - is "Nancy's bane".
Do you have a food that you hate so much it's a 'bane'?

Here are ours:
Kev - canned cranberry sauce - that horrible stuff served with turkey.
Lisa - English peas - I just despise them.
Mayo is okay though...so you could send us Nancy's recipes today :)

I don't like either one of those! Although I will (reluctantly) eat English peas in stuff, like if they're in shepherd's pie or chicken pot pie - as long as they are used sparingly.

Beans! I hate beans. It's a combination of their texture and taste. I won't touch anything with beans in it.

LOL!
No, there is no food that could be called 'Afton's bane.' (But, that does explain why Afton's bane is the bathroom scale.)

Liver.

No way! Really? I can't tell you how much that pleases me!

I hate mayo myself. Mostly though, I shy away from mussels or crustaceans of any kind. Why anyone would eat something that had soaked in the ocean for it's entire life is beyond me.

Heh, Pilot - my husband would be right there with you. He hates all seafood. I like most of it, myself.
