Tonight Alan had the urge for a steak, specifically one from Longhorn, so off we went. I try to indulge him as much as possible, particularly when it's something I want to do anyway. It was during a shared appetizer of boneless buffalo wings that I started to feel very strange, dizzy and overcome with urges utterly unlike myself. Alan noticed, asked if I felt okay and I replied, "Honey, I have the oddest urge, no, almost a compulsion, to brew some moonshine, jump into the car without opening the doors and drive recklessly around the outskirts of the county while hollering 'wooo-hooo' really loudly."
Right away Alan pinpointed the source: I was picking up a major Dukes of Hazzard vibe from none other than Bo Duke, sitting a couple of tables away and also eating a Longhorn steak. This was not the new one from the movie, but the old Bo Duke from the television series. We had dinner with Bo Duke! Er, of course, he was eating at a separate table in a different part of the restaurant, but still, we had dinner with John Schneider. He must have heard we would be there.
He wasn't driving the General Lee, which is why we didn't notice right away. Our waitress said he was in town promoting a movie but she didn't know the name of it; she said he was making a personal appearance tomorrow at the Carmike Cinema. A celebrity sighting in Conyers - it hasn't been this exciting since Howard Rollins got arrested here (thrice!).
