So this squirrel walks into a bar...
What can I say? You know it's a lazy spring afternoon in Conyers, Georgia, when you're sitting there, chillin' in a booth at the local hapnin' hangout and suddenly everyone's attention is riveted by the squirrel who's just strolled in the back door. I asked Alan to take a picture; our waitress was curious about what we were photographing so we told her, "There's a squirrel in the bar." She sighed and said, "AGAIN?!?" and shooed him out with a menu. Well, I mean, he was OBVIOUSLY underage and he didn't have ID, so what's a waitress to do?
Alan and I had a lovely afternoon hanging out at the Whistle Post, sharing appetizers and listening to classic rock, just enjoying the day. We invited Lachele, Anne, Jim, Bo and Sarah but *sniffle* nobody likes us. Seriously, Anne turned us on to that place and I hope the rest of you (plus Mark and Nancy) join us there someday because it's a totally cool, laid-back hangout with a variety of tasty things on the menu, none of which are particularly expensive. Today we had mozzarella balls in marinara sauce and hot herbed pita chips with hummus and olives. Totally yummalicious!
Earlier in the day, we heated up last night's leftovers for lunch, which for me was Tuscan Garlic Chicken (pan-seared chicken breasts with red peppers and baked garlic in a creamy cheese sauce over fettucini). As usual Sprocket was begging for morsels (like this) so I offered him a bite. I didn't really think he'd like it; I figured he'd either sniff and reject it, or take it in his mouth and lay it down somewhere, like he does with olives. My puppy ate an entire clove of garlic. He even chewed it (which if you know Sprocket, you realize is rare). He begged for more. Of course, I'm a soft touch when it comes to the pets so he got more. He ate two or three cloves of baked garlic. I don't mind, I want him to have tasty bits whenever I do, but really. Whose dog eats GARLIC?!? Well, sure, Luciano Pavarotti's, but...no, really, WHOSE DOG EATS FRICKIN' GARLIC?!?

1 Comments:
Garlic is good for doggyboys, so please don't tell the Sprocketman. It is a very good flea preventative; my 'Home Remedies' for dogs recommends using garlic powder or juice on their dry food in flea season. Which, as you know, in Georgia is late January thru Thanksgiving...sigh. Anyhow, it's a good thing he liked it and that you gave him more. But DONT. TELL. HIM. THAT.!
Teriffic picture of Alan (maybe he has more to smile about, now that you are in his life!)
