*in an Ella Fitzgerald voice* Aaat laaaaaaaast!

I finally have working phones, functional e-mail and internet access at work. Everything that could possibly have gone wrong with that process did, at every conceivable juncture. A few funny things happened, but would take far too much lengthy, boring and painful exposition to set up, so I won't even try.

Saturday night I got to go see my friend Anne in a play! The local theatre troupe was doing "Sweet Simon Suites" which consisted of two scenes each from Neil Simon's Plaza Suite and California Suite. She's so talented. And smart. And pretty. I hate Anne. No, not really. Anne's part was Hannah in California Suite, the chick played by Hanoi Jane in the movie. Anne did it better. No, not just because Hanoi Jane suc[obscenities deleted], Anne's interpretation was just better. The next day, I found out how great an actress Anne really is: she'd done a fabulous job, all the while staying in character as she withstood pranks from stage manager Jay. He'd taped a picture of a naked man flat on the bureau beside the phone Anne had to answer, put a rubber rattlesnake in among the clothes she has to pack and strung a long ?roll? ?rope? series of condoms in and throughout the cosmetics bag she retrieves. Hilarious and we (the audience) never suspected a thing.

In June I want to go to see Anne's friend Patty Maguire in "Always Patsy Cline". It's a two-woman show and Anne says it'll be great. I've seen Patty before in "Nunsense" and as Golde in "Fiddler on the Roof". She's quite talented, too. If you want to go see it with me, info is here.

In other news, my brother destroyed the Dancz studio at UGA. He was working on the music for his recital tomorrow when every speaker went eerily silent. He could still see his levels but could hear nothing. I was quite proud; I'd never destroyed an entire studio in one fell swoop. This recital is for his electronic music. If you're not busy tomorrow, stop by - details here.

Today I'm wearing the coolest dress - it's black velvet with purple velvet inserts and a lace-up wench bodice. It was a Christmas gift from Alan. It's kinda low-cut so I have a little velvet jacket on, too, and the cutest shoes I own (black ballerina flats with criss-cross ties). I need to wear stuff that looks nice with flat shoes because I'm still having to walk back and forth all over downtown and for the first time since I got it, it was FINALLY warm enough to wear this dress. YAY!

I must now go and generate some billing, in order to earn my keep around this place.

MONTOYA DELENDA EST!

  • Now, I wish I could see that pretty dress - I'll bet you are on past gorgeous in it! (But you know what your Grandmother would say - it's Spring. One only wears velvet in winter, and not after Boxing Day. She'd say that.)

  • If I weren't committed to this yard sale thing, I would go tomorrow. Rats. I'm interested in the Patsy Cline thing in June, for sure!
