The Hellhole

We ran some errands today and among other things, we went to Macy's - I needed a jeans.  I haven't tried them on yet, but I have hopes.  Because none of the things I want for Christmas are things Alan would choose without my input/feedback/decision, I was also looking for my own gifts.  I want a certain kind of coat which I didn't find, but I also wanted this bracelet which we DID find.  It's a gold chain that ends with a solid gold heart and then a smaller diamond ribbon heart, and it was on a substantial discount, so we bought it.

Then we went to run our other errands, Yankee Candle (we had a coupon!) and the bookstore, which is in the same shopping center as Yankee Candle - Avenues at Webb Gin if you're local, but gawd I miss the days when a different rival bookstore chain was in the shopping mall 2 miles from my house.

So errands were done and we spent almost an hour roaming through the bookstore, and it was lovely.  I had stuff in my arms and was sitting the load down to pick up other things, and lifting and lowering my stash.  Once we'd checked out and were headed to my car, I noticed a weird feeling - my bracelet was gone!!!  I'd only owned it a couple of hours and I'd already lost it!  I was upset, partly because of the money but mostly because...I don't spend lots of money on myself or on 'not necessities' and yet when I finally caved in and did so, it was gone!  I was very sad.  Alan said that I must have lost it in the bookstore and so we should go back in to look for it, but before I could respond to that suggestion, he said, "It's probably in one of our bags!"

Stupid crapola, I thought to myself.  Like there's any way it'll be in one of those bags instead of on the floor somewhere in the bookstore or in someone else's pocket after visiting the floor of the bookstore.  Sniffle.  Then Alan looked into one of the two bookstore bags he was holding - I had a third, hey, we are some book-loving peoples - and he said, "Yeah, hey, here it is!"

And there it was.

Just like he said.
