Finnovar
05/15/1994 - 01/19/2011

On Wednesday the most evil, wonderful, scornful kitteh anyone could ever hope to have breathed his last. RIP, my friend Finnovar. Thanks for letting me be your hoomin for nearly 17 years.

"You in a heap o'trouble, boy."

Finnovar plays Katamari Damacy.

Remember the massive cat-food recall? Finnovar coped.

"P.E.T.A. can kiss my fuzzy ass."

"No autographs."

Better quality/size of the pictures here: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5.

I don't expect that I shall be updating my blog again anytime soon. My heart's just not in it. My heart's not in much of anything anymore.

  • I'd like to give a big thank you to Dr Harwell and the staff at Evans Mill Animal Hospital, who were kind and compassionate and were willing to let us take our time and make the best decision for the Finn. When the time came, all the vet techs came in to say goodbye to him - he had been going there longer than some of them had worked there, and everyone knew him by name.

It was very hard to let him go, but it was the right thing to do. All we could do would be to prolong his life (and then maybe only for a day or so), not improve his life.

Goodbye, scorny muss. I'll miss you.

  • I'm so sorry to hear that. My thoughts are with you.

I'm sure Finnovar is in Kitty Heaven right now surrounded by plates of sushi and copious amounts of attractive felines. May he R.I.P..

  • Sorry to hear about your loss, Helly and Alan. It's hard to lose any pet. Hugs! My dad would have appreciated the picture of Finn on the mink coat.

  • My deepest sympathies. We lost two of our favoritest kitties ever last year and it broke our hearts. Still grieve for them.

  • So sorry to hear. I lost my 1st baby last year. It looks like Fin was a well loved and very spoiled baby.

  • I thought I left a comment here yesterday, but now it's gone. I just wanted to offer my sympathy - I'm so sorry for your loss. I know I can't say anything to make it better. But thinking about Finnovar made me remember this blog post, which was one of my very favorites, ever:

  • We didn't see this till now and wanted to send our condolences. We are going through a similar situation with our 19 year kittie Nietzsche. Our thoughts go out to y'all and I know Finn brought much joy and happiness to your family.

  • January was clearly a bad month for kitties. We lost Chelsea on the third, after a couple of weeks of mostly saying goodbye to her, although hoping she'd make a miraculous recovery. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.

Chelsea and her brother of another mother, Jackson, were our very first rescues. Chelsea was the grand old lady of our household at 20 and it was hard to let her go, and even harder knowing that the last trip to the vet to have her put to sleep was that extra bit of stress that was enough to lose her about five minutes before the vet was going to come in with the big shot. Perhaps it was Chelsea's final good deed, saving us a few bucks. I think except for her last 24 hours, she wasn't in much pain and mostly slept a lot. I hope it wasn't too awful for her.

That said, I haven't been blogging or blog reading much, so I didn't know about Finnovar until a few minutes ago. I'm so sorry. I know how much all of your kids mean to you and how difficult this is for you. I know that Finn was having health problems the last time we talked, but at that point, you and the vet were hopeful for getting some more quality time for him.

I know that your heart is broken, but I don't think Finn would want you to quit blogging, especially if his siblings of another species do something especially cute.

Again, I'm so sorry, and I'm especially sorry that I'm so late in seeing this. After Chelsea died, I didn't make my regular internet rounds.
