The Hellhole

Yesterday was wonderful. We had to take Esme to the vet for her annual checkup and she is in great health, no problems. Then we were invited over to Anne and Rick's house for an afternoon of swimming and grilling. Anne made margaritas; we floated in the pool and had a great time just hanging out in the cool water.

Anne and Rick have a dog, a doxie-pin named Bailey. She likes rawhides so I brought her a few rawhide treats - a couple of round ones with meaty centers and one that was a yellowish brown and shaped like a whole roasted chicken. She gnawed one of the legs off right away and then left the chicken lying on the floor. At two separate times, Colleen (Anne's daughter) and Blakley (Rick's daughter) saw the chicken lying there and thought it was doggie throw-up, only realizing what it was when they tried to clean it. I guess that's not very complimentary to the chicken but, hey, little Bailey liked it and that's what counts.

For dinner, Rick fired up the grill. We'd brought flatiron steaks and marinated portobello mushrooms. We had corn on the cob and bread, also cooked on the grill, and homemade peach ice cream for dessert. YUM! It rained while we were having dinner but blew out quickly so we got back into the pool for another swim after we ate. Swam and floated until dark- it was just lovely.
