I don't believe a picture is worth a thousand words (not most of my pictures, anyway) but I wouldn't be able to think of 4,000 words on this subject so today I am taking the easy way out by showing you what I've been up to at The Hellhole instead of writing about it.
This is my new kitchen faucet. I like the porcelain handles - kinda retro. My dad installed it - I'm not good at plumbing. Mainly because all of my pants come up over my butt-crack.
Okay, okay, his do too, but otherwise the plumber joke doesn't work.
This is the new kitchen wallpaper.
This is the new hall wallpaper. I took this picture before it was finished.
This is the hall after the wallpaper border was added. I haven't finished trimming it or putting the border all the way around but this corner is finished.
My mom did most of the wallpaper. I handed her tools at appropriate moments, held the bottom of the roll while she matched it, measured incorrectly (causing her to have 3 different do-overs) and other helpful stuff. My mom doesn't have plumber-butt either, but if she did you wouldn't be able to tell because she is very little so most of her t-shirts hang down really low.

OH! HOW PRETTY it all looks! I knew it did, but somehow it looks even nicer in the photos. I am really happy about all we did, but especially the hall...that border! WOW
(btw - thanks for the 'she is very little' compliment!)

Thanks again for everything, Mom. Have you watched your Firefly DVDs yet?
Thanks for the compliment, Maria! It's great to know other people like it!

I love the hall wallpaper. What's it called? Can't have borders here though - too foofy. All of our furniture is made out of logs 'n' stuff.

"Birch bark" by Norwalk. The flocking is a bit greener IRL than it looks in the pictures so it matches the border better.
Too foofy? Heh - you should see my bathroom...iris-pink curtains on pewter and pink cracked carnival glass finials, matching silk wallpaper...I'm the girly girl who INVENTED foofy! And yet, hockey love prevails - go figure!

We haven't watched our FIREFLY DVDs yet - Daddy was exhausted yesterday. He cut the grass, and 'had' to sweep the floors (lr, kitchen, dr) and then he had to mop! Poor fellow! Oh, and he did 3 loads of laundry, too! IMAGINE!

And you are most entirely welcome!

Three, but I use one of them as the study/computer room so there's not a bed in there, only my chaise longue. So is it still a bedroom (by any other name as it were) or does function define its form or is its bedroomesque essence still implicit in its existence?
By Helly, at 3:47 PM
Bwahahaha, a chaise lounge. How utterly perfect for a foofy girl.
I don't know how you'd describe bedrooms in our house either. We have the master bedroom, the bird room (yes, the six parrots have their own room), and what used to be the guest bedroom. But, we got rid of the bed, bought a treadmill (ought to really use that, I say), put in a desk and will soon be able to make t-shirts and mugs & stuff in there. I guess it's still the guest bedroom, only no guests allowed. Hey, it's Vegas, we have lots of hotels here. :)
