The Hellhole

The zoquete post of Maria's (and the two before it) got me thinking about an insult that was unique to a certain group of my friends back in the day. We used to call other girls "broom" - as in, "That broom tried to steal my date!" or "Can you believe the tight pants on that broom over there?" or "What's up with that broom's hair? Do you think it's on purpose?" It was a moderate insult, not as bad as b*tch or ho. Generally it meant "witch", having derived from the cartoon witch named "Broomhilda" - a 'broom' was code for/short for 'witch'. If you were REALLY tight pals, you could use it with each other: "Whassup, broom?" or "Listen up, brooms, here's the dealio..." and once I received a giant chocolate chip birthday cookie with "#1 Broom!" written in frosting. I had all but forgotten that...

Incidentally, when I opened a new browser window so I could link to Maria's post, I typed in "na" and *thought* I hit the down arrow, so the pulldown menu would obligingly supply me with 'nadamasrespira.blogspot.com'. It didn't. And what's more, when you type only "na" + enter in your browser window, it takes you to Narcotics Anonymous. Now they're going to be spamming me with rehab spam! And when I say I don't have a problem, they'll think I'm in the denial phase! I don't have a problem! I don't! I don't! Bunch of zoquetes.
