Garbage karma got me. I made too much fun of the skanky neighbors being unable to figure out the intricacies of trash pickup, I guess. My company, All-South Robertson, which has been affordable and unfailingly reliable for the last 3 - 4 years, refuses to come get my trash. I think something bad is going on at their organization but I don't know what.
Last Friday they skipped me. Normally it wouldn't be that big a deal, only two people live here, but I'd done some cleaning up, clearing out and the big green can was totally full. When I tried to call about this, the line was incessantly busy or, if I managed to get through, Auto-Attendant left me on hold so long I had to hang up to take other calls - I'm at work, too, during the day. It took a day and a half, literally, to finally talk to someone, but all they would do is take a message for someone else to call me back. Someone ("Tobi") finally did, but she called at work in the evening and left me a message saying they were sorry and would be "back out" to pick up. Well, she didn't say when they'd be out and I didn't get the message until the next day so it didn't do any good - unlike some skanky people I could mention, I don't keep my piles of garbage outside where dogs and raccoons and rodents can get into it and scatter it everywhere. When the trash didn't get picked up, it was returned to the garage and was still there when they came back out - IF they came back out.
So I tried again - more busy signals and very, very long waits, more "all I can do is take your information" but I persisted and finally got an apology and a solemn promise that they'd be out today and would absolutely, totally, 100% pick up the garbage no matter how much it was and would clean up if any of it got strewed around. Fine, except nobody's here. The line was incessantly busy this morning. Finally, I left a message and it wasn't a pretty message. I didn't curse even once, which those of you who know me personally realize is even scarier than when I curse a lot.
They had better call me back or come collect this nasty, stinky garbage because I am not at all like my skanky neighbors who let their garbage pile up for weeks. I am both resourceful AND vindictive. Their corporate office is not all that far away from me and if they choose not to come and get my garbage, why then I will not hesitate to bring it to them.
