Today’s moment of Atlanta Traffic Idiocy: this is technically more pedestrian idiocy but I was driving at the time, so it qualifies. I’m sitting at a light on Cone Street, with a parking deck to my left. It has a single-car entrance on Marietta Street and a big exit space opening onto Cone Street that’s easily three or four cars wide. Today - maybe they’re short-staffed because of holidays - the chain-link gate that gets locked after hours is still pulled all the way across the Cone Street side. A thirtyish dude in a suit, cell phone in one hand and a coffee in the other, is striding importantly toward his office - striding so importantly, in fact, that he doesn’t notice the LARGE, HEAVY CHAIN-LINK FENCE directly in front of him and blams right into it. He looked so utterly surprised, I had to laugh.
