A quick post to let everyone know that Alan's home from his surgery and doing pretty well.
For those that weren't already aware, he cracked a molar a few weeks ago and it was determined that, of root canals and crowns and bridges and dental implements torturous and bizarre, his best option was to have a full extraction and then an implant. Today was the extraction, which wouldn't be that bad in itself, but it required anaesthesia. He was pretty drowsy when we scraped him off the chair and packed him into my car, but he was able to walk into the house and settle into bed. He's a little grumpy because he couldn't eat or drink for several hours before the anaesthesia and after it was done (they started at 10:15) I was under a prohibition to give him no liquid or soft foods until noon.
I got him settled into bed and waited the required time before giving ginger beer (he says ginger ale - what do you guys call it?), chicken broth and some mashed potatos. Once he'd had food, he was allowed a pain pill so he's snoozing now. I hope it continues well for him; I know sometimes anaesthesia and/or pain pills can cause nausea. Finnovar is keeping a watchful eye out while I write and check blogs so I'm sure everything is fine. It's good to have household help.

Thanks for the update; there is always some concern with things like this - even if it is 'routine'.
I am very glad to know he is through with this, and resting. The Finn will make sure nothing goes wrong, I am sure and he has good backup from SprocketRocketHeroPup.
My love to Alan; let me know if you need anything.
love you both,
Mom

Ginger Ale.
Alan, don't eat soup while your mouth is numb or you'll spill it all down your face and never know it. (I speak from experience.)

Ginger ale. Ginger beer is something different...
Glad to know he's doing well!
